Jesus, even after reflecting on this 5 minutes a day for 23 days now, please don’t let me imagine I comprehend the physical and emotional bonding that occurred between you and your mother. You asked her and she consented to being your non-stop life support 24 hours a day for 9 months. She loved you and welcomed you before she ever knew you. There has never been and never will be any competition between you; only love.
The intimacy. The dependency. The trust you showed. The service she provided.
You tell us that someone who receives a prophet, because he is a prophet, will receive a prophet’s reward.
You say if we give a little one a drink of water, just because he is a follower of yours, we will not go without a reward.
In 2 Timothy 4:7-8 Paul speaks of a crown that awaits him.
Your mother certainly ran the race and did not turn away.
Why do I resist the idea of you rewarding her with a crown?
Jesus, foster within me a more generous heart.
