Following Jesus to Bethlehem

Finding more Advent wonder and Christmas joy
The Angel
In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin's name was Mary.
Luke 1:26-28

Day Six:

You find yourself walking through Nazareth at night. Full moon, slight breeze, and a couple dogs barking one street away. You approach the only house with a light and touch the wall but your hand passes right through as it would through smoke. You're dreaming. Walking through the wall you see a mighty angel in the room kneeling before a young woman. Why is his head bowed as if she were royalty? They speak but not in a language known to you. The obvious fear she first showed melts into wonder as she kneels, bows her head and opens both hands. The angel departs as a fragrance fills the room followed by a light so intense you must cover your eyes. You open your eyes and find yourself in your favorite prayer spot.

Stay here 5 minutes and revisit this scene a few times. It holds something for you. Listen. If she was praying just before the angel came, what do you think her prayer may have been?  What desire do you imagine God planted in her heart to help prepare her for the angel's message?
What is your heart's desire?

Jesus, show me my heart in the mirror that does not lie.
